ASSOCIATE COMMISSIONER, BUSINESS AND FINANCE
A financial management executive, Jim Andrus brought over 20 years of progressive experience in collegiate athletics administration into the position of Associate Commissioner, Business and Finance, for the Mountain West Conference. He oversees all of the MWC's budgeting, financial and human resources activities, and serves as the liaison with the coordinators of officials for football, volleyball, men's and women's basketball.

Prior to joining the WAC in 1993, Andrus served on active duty in the Air Force from 1971-93 and was assigned to the United States Air Force Academy. His career began as an intramural supervisor and physical education instructor in 1977. He quickly climbed the ladder, serving as an assistant director of athletics responsible for intercollegiate and intramural programs (1983-92) and business and financial management (1992-93). He also served as department controller, and NCAA compliance director. During his time at the Air Force Academy, Andrus also held the position of commissioner with three eight-member NCAA Division II conferences based in Colorado Springs.
A native of Clinton, Iowa, Andrus earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in Physical Education from the University of Iowa. He completed the Air Force ROTC program and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant upon graduation. Andrus retired from active duty in 1993 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
