Two Mountain West Conference Student-Athletes Named to 2004 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Women's Volleyball Team New Mexico's Adah Burke and Wyoming's Amy Doman earn second-team honors
Dec. 3, 2004 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 2004 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Women's Volleyball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), was announced on Thursday with two Mountain West student-athletes represented. Senior libero Adah Burke of New Mexico and senior setter Amy Doman of Wyoming were second-team honorees. Burke, a Las Cruces, N.M., native, is a first-time selection to the team after earning a 4.02 grade point average in Mathematics. She is a 2003 District VI honoree, as well as a two-time MWC Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Conference selection. Doman earned a 3.95 grade point average in health sciences. The Brentwood, Tenn., product, is a three-time Academic All-Conference and Scholar-Athlete selection and earned First Team Academic All District VII honors twice (2003, 2004), as well as second team All-District VII recognition in 2002. The Pac-10 Conference led all honorees with four student-athletes on the first-, second-and-third teams, followed by the Mountain West, Conference USA and Big South placing two student-athletes on the 2004 Academic All-America teams. The WAC, Ohio Valley Conference, Horizon League, Big 10, Sunbelt Conference, Atlantic 10 and Southland Conference all had one honoree. Northern Colorado, an Division I independent, also had an All-America recipient.
