MWC Volleyball Player of the Week BYU's Lauren Richards earns first career honor
Nov. 29, 2004 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU junior setter Lauren Richards earned Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, marking her first career honor. Richards, an Orem, Utah, product, led the Cougars to their 12th sweep of the season last week, defeating Eastern Washington. Against the Eagles, she totaled 46 assists and eight kills on 10 attempts (one error), tying her career-high .700 hitting efficiency. Richards also collected seven digs, two blocks and two service aces. For the match, she averaged 15.33 assists, 2.67 kills, 2.33 digs and 0.67 service aces and blocks per game. Richards currently leads the MWC in service aces per game (0.50) and is sixth all-time on the BYU career charts in total assists (2,757).
