Colorado State's Santos Named MWC Volleyball Player Of The Week Senior garners honor for first time this season.
Nov. 26, 2001 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State senior outside hitter Soraya Santos was named the Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, marking her first overall award. A native of Vitoria, Brazil (College of Southern Idaho), Santos helped the ninth-ranked Rams to a 2-1 record last week. She totaled a match-high 16 kills with just two errors for a .483 hitting percentage in a four-game win at Oregon State. In a three-game win at Portland, Santos posted 13 kills and five service aces, while hitting .476. In a three-game loss at No. 3 Stanford, she totaled six kills, nine digs and four block assists.
For the week, Santos totaled 35 kills (3.5 kpg), seven aces (.70 apg), 24 digs (2.4 dpg) and nine blocks (.90 bpg). She also averaged a team-high .415 attack percentage in the three matches.
