Colorado State's Rogers Named MWC Player of the Week Sophomore garners honor for second time this season.
Nov. 24, 2003 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State outside hitter Tess Rogers earned Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week honors, marking her second award this season.
A 5-11 sophomore from Merino, Colo. (Merino HS), Rogers led the No. 1 seed Rams to the Mountain West Conference Championship last week after victories over New Mexico, San Diego State and Utah. She recorded 18 kills in 40 attempts vs. the Lobos in the first round of tournament play and posted a team-high 22 kills with a .378 hitting efficiency vs. the host Aztecs in the semifinals. In the championship vs. Utah, Rogers recorded 21 kills and a .349 percentage. For the week, Rogers averaged 4.69 kills, .31 aces, .77 digs and .46 blocks per game, while hitting a combined .312 (61-21-128) in the three matches. She set the MWC Tournament record for kills with 61 and was named MWC Tournament Most Valuable Player.
