MWC Volleyball Player Of The Week BYU's Chelsea Goodman earns her second weekly honor.
Nov. 21, 2005 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU sophomore Chelsea Goodman earned Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week honors, marking her second weekly award of the season and her career. Goodman, a 5-11 sophomore from Mesa, Ariz., led the Cougars to conference wins over San Diego State and UNLV last week, helping the Cougars clinch their first outright MWC regular-season title since 1999. Against the Aztecs, she recorded 16 kills and 11 digs for her 10th double-double of the season, hitting a career-high .452 in the process as BYU clinched the regular-season crown with its sweep of SDSU. Goodman also tallied three total blocks and an assist vs. San Diego State. She followed with her second double-double of the weekend (11th on the season) vs. UNLV with 21 kills and 13 digs. She also had a block, service ace and an assist in BYU's four-game victory over the Rebels. For the week, Goodman averaged 5.29 kills, 3.43 digs and 0.57 blocks per game. She also had four total blocks, two assists and a service ace. Her hitting percentage of .438 (37-5-73) last week was almost .200 points over her season average.
