Nov. 21, 2002

LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. - A familiar face from Brigham Young's glory days will roam the press area at the 2002 Mountain West Volleyball Championships this week from November 21-23.

Amy Steele Gant, the 6'1" former middle blocker for BYU and two-time AVCA All-American, will be providing color commentary for all seven televised matches for the Mountain West Conference Television Network.

"Obviously, I don't do it for the money," said Amy, who is currently 6 months pregnant with her second child. "I do it because it's a lot of fun."

Because volleyball is not widely televised across the country, not many people know that Amy is already a 3-year veteran in the broadcasting business. In 1999, fresh out of the USA National Team, she provided color commentary for 6 BYU matches that were aired by a local TV station.
