Pairings Set for MWC Volleyball Championship
CSU No. 1 seed for fourth straight year, all matches to be televised.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Mountain West Conference announced pairings for the 2003 Mountain West Conference Volleyball Championship which will be held Nov. 20-22 at Peterson Gym on the campus of San Diego State University. Four matches are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 20 to start championship play. No. 1 seed Colorado State (24-4, 14-0), the first team to go unbeaten in league play in MWC history, battles No. 8 seed New Mexico (4-24, 1-13) at 4 p.m. (PT), followed by No. 4 seed and host San Diego State (17-13, 7-7) taking on No. 5 seed UNLV (11-16, 4-10) at 7 p.m. (PT). No. 2 seed and two-time defending conference tournament champion Utah (18-7, 12-2) opens play at 11 a.m. (PT) vs. No. 7 seed Wyoming (15-15, 4-10), followed by No. 3 seed BYU (20-7, 10-4) vs. No. 6 seed Air Force (14-14, 4-10) at 1:30 p.m. (PT). The first-round winners advance to the semifinals Friday, Nov. 21 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. (PT). The championship will take place Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. (PT). This is the second straight year that matches will be broadcast back to each Mountain West Conference market, and the fourth straight year the MWC has televised the entire championship. Preliminary round matches can be seen on over-the-air and cable affiliates throughout the Mountain West Conference region. Saturday's title match will be televised live at 8 p.m. MT on Fox Sports Net (Rocky Mountain) with a coverage area including Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, as well as parts of Montana, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska and Nevada. The telecast will also be available to a national audience on FSN to DirecTV subscribers. The semifinals and finals will air on CSTV via tape delay.
