No. 9 Utah Wins 2006 MWC Volleyball Regular Season Championship Ninth-ranked Utes claim first outright regular season title as members of the MWC.
Nov. 13, 2006 The No. 9 ranked Utah Utes earned their first-ever outright MWC regular season volleyball crown last weekend with a 3-1 win over Wyoming and UNLV's five-game win over Colorado State Sunday night. The Utes claimed the title and the top-seed in next week's MWC Championship in Las Vegas, Nev. In other action last week, No. 21 BYU jumped back into a tie for second-place in the conference (with Colorado State) with a three-game win over Wyoming, while UNLV secured the fourth-seed in the upcoming tournament with wins over Air Force and Colorado State. The Cougars and Rams will face each other this Friday (November 17) in Fort Collins, Colo., in a match that could possibly determine the second seed in the MWC Championship.
