PROVO, Utah - BYU junior outside hitter Lindsey Metcalf has been named to the Academic All-District VIII University Volleyball Third Team today. Metcalf is an early childhood education major and carries a 3.87 cumulative grade point average.

The teams are chosen by District VIII members of CoSIDA, which include the states of Alaska, California, Idaho, Hawai'i, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington, as well as British Columbia, Canada.

Able to play all over the court, Metcalf averages 2.21 kills, 2.50 digs and 0.82 blocks per game on the season. In 2003, she has posted career highs of 18 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Her other single-match career highs include 20 digs, 17 blocks and 15 assists.

Metcalf's career-high 17 blocks is a MWC record and stands as the fourth-best individual effort in BYU history.

Perhaps the Cougars' best all around athlete, Metcalf is also an athletic and academic track and field All-American. She is a two-time MWC high jump champion.
