Colorado Springs, Colo. ­ Commissioner Craig Thompson announced that KBYU-TV has agreed to televise two matches from the 1999 Inaugural Mountain West Conference Volleyball Championship to be held Nov. 24-27 in Provo, Utah.

The 7 p.m. semifinal match on Friday will be televised, as well as the championship match. In order to accommodate the live broadcast, the championship match has been moved to a 4 p.m. start time on Saturday.

KBYU¹s signal reaches 707,000 households in a four-state region which includes Utah, Idaho, Colorado and Arizona.

"We are very excited to have KBYU provide television exposure of the inaugural Mountain West Conference Volleyball Championship," commented commissioner Thompson. "The sport of volleyball throughout the conference is very deserving of this coverage and we are pleased to be able to reach such a large audience within our region."

BYU will serve as host of the inaugural volleyball championship that will be played in the Smith Fieldhouse. The event gets under way on Wed., Nov. 24 with quarterfinal matches at 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Semifinals will be played on Fri., Nov. 26 at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. The championship final is slated for 4 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 27.

Tickets for the 1999 Inaugural Mountain West Conference Volleyball Championship are available through the BYU ticket office by calling (801) 378-2981 or (800) 322-2981. An all-tournament package is available at the cost of $10 for adults, $6 for seniors/students and $4 for children (ages 3-12). Single session tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors/students and $3 for children.
