Mountain West Conference Announces Volleyball Co-Players of the Week
Nov. 9, 2009 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico middle blocker Anna Lehne and TCU middle blocker Kourtney Edwards have been named Mountain West Conference Volleyball Co-Players of the Week for the second consecutive week. Lehne, a 6-1 senior from Pueblo, Colo., led New Mexico to home Conference wins over Utah (3-1) and BYU (3-0) last week. Against Utah, Lehne tallied nine kills with only one error for a .421 hitting percentage, while also collecting five total blocks. Against BYU, she posted a .538 efficiency (7-0-13), two total blocks and two digs. On the week, Lehne averaged 2.29 kills, 1.00 blocks and 2.93 points per set, while hitting .469 (16-1-32). Edwards, a 6-1 senior from Haltom City, Texas, led the Horned Frogs to a sweep of BYU and a four-set win over Utah last week. Against BYU, she posted 13 kills at a .400 hitting clip and one block. In the Utah contest, Edwards collected 17 kills with only two errors (.455 efficiency) to go along with three blocks and one dig. In the decisive fourth set, she tallied five kills and a .714 hitting percentage. On the week, she averaged 4.29 kills, 0.57 blocks and 4.64 points per set, while posting a .431 hitting percentage (30-5-58).
