NO. 18 COLORADO STATE AND 25TH-RANKED UNLV TIED ATOP LEAGUE STANDINGS
With conference wins over Air Force and Wyoming, No. 25 UNLV (19-3, 10-2 MWC) now shares first-place in the league standings with No. 18 Colorado State (17-5, 10-2 MWC). The Rams defeated San Diego State in their only league match of the week. BYU (17-6, 9-4 MWC) remains in third-place as they went 2-0 in Conference play last week, and TCU (20-10, 7-6 MWC) and Utah (11-13, 7-6 MWC) are tied for fourth in the standings. New Mexico (15-10, 6-7 MWC) dropped a notch in the rankings to sixth, while Wyoming (11-12, 5-9 MWC) remains in seventh. San Diego State (12-11, 4-8 MWC) and Air Force (7-21, 0-14 MWC) are eighth and ninth, respectively, to round out the league standings.
WEEK 12 PREVIEW
Six conference matches are on this week's ledger as the 2007 MWC Volleyball Championship looms around the corner. The league slate is highlighted by intrastate rivals BYU and Utah doing battle Friday night in Provo. The Cougar-Ute match will be shown via same-day tape delay on The Mtn. at 8 p.m. MT. Other Friday league matches pit New Mexico at No. 25 UNLV and TCU at San Diego State. Conference play begins on Wednesday with No. 18 Colorado State hosting Wyoming. Saturday's schedule will see New Mexico at San Diego State and TCU at UNLV.
The 18th-ranked Rams will also be in non-conference play as they hit the road to take on Arizona on Friday night.
UNLV RANKED IN THE TOP-25 FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SCHOOL HISTORY
UNLV broke into the CSTV/AVCA Top-25 Poll this week with a No. 25 ranking. This is the first time in the history of the program that the Rebels have been ranked in the top-25. UNLV joins BYU, Colorado State and Utah as the only four MWC teams to be ranked since the inception of the league in 1999.
