COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The MWC is entering its final weekend for regular season conference action before the MWC Championship Nov. 16-18 in Fort Collins. Colorado State and BYU hold the No. 1 and No. 2 slots in the standings, but both teams travel for matches this week. Utah and SDSU each have 8-4 conference records, but Utah would win the tie-breaker for seeding by splitting with BYU (BYU swept SDSU). Listed below is a glimpse of the McLeodUSA MWC Championship matchups if the standings remain as they are:
#1 Colorado State vs. #8 Air Force, #2 BYU vs. #7 Wyoming, #3 Utah vs. #6 UNLV, #4 SDSU vs. #5 New Mexico.

Cougars Win Fifth Straight
Nina Puikkonen led four BYU players in double figure kills with 22 as the Cougars won their fifth straight match with a four-game win over Utah (15-5, 12-15, 15-13, 16-14) in Provo last week. Puikkonen also racked up 10 blocks as BYU overpowered Utah at the net with 16 blocks to the Utes 8.5. Katrena Ellett (15k-12d) and Lenka Urbanova (13k-10d) each tallied double-doubles for Utah.

Rams Post 42nd Straight Home Win
Colorado State wrapped up its regular season home schedule with victories over New Mexico (15-6, 15-9, 13-15, 15-7) and Air Force (15-4, 15-2, 15-7), stretching its home win streak to a NCAA-best 42 straight matches. Courtney Cox and Angela Knopf led the Rams with 19 kills each in a four-game win over the Lobos, while Summer Jennings had a match-high eight kills vs. the Falcons. CSU¹s Soraya Santos (18k-10d) and Krista Swartzendruber (17k-16d) each recorded double-doubles vs. New Mexico.

Lobos Down Cowgirls
New Mexico¹s Jessie Goffard recorded her 11th double-double of the year with 26 kills and 20 digs in a five-game win over Wyoming (10-15, 15-11, 11-15, 15-6, 15-11). Micaela Conley, who is tied with Goffard with a league-high 11 double-doubles this season, tallied double-doubles in both weekend matches (22 k-18d vs. Wyo., and 12k-13d vs. CSU). Michele Rauter (15k-27d), Jamie Burke (10k-14d) and Barbie Bragg (14k-14d) posted double-doubles for Wyoming.

Aztecs Move into Tie for Third
Amy Hallquist led San Diego State with 13 kills in a three-game sweep over UNLV (15-10, 15-12, 15-9) last week, moving the Aztecs into a tie for third place in the MWC standings. Leiana Oswald led the Rebels with a match-high 15 kills. SDSU has won 10 of its last 12 matches, including four straight.
