COLORADO STATE PREPARING FOR CSTV SUNDAY NIGHT SPIKE
No. 9 Colorado State (19-2, 10-1 MWC) hits the road this weekend to battle the 3rd-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers at the Nebraska Coliseum in Lincoln, Neb., in a match to be televised by CSTV on Sunday, Nov. 7, at 5 p.m. CDT. The Huskers hold a 5-1 advantage in the all-time series, with their last meeting coming in the regional semifinals of the 2001 NCAA Tournament, a 3-1 Nebraska win. The Rams, who are 2-1 vs. ranked non-conference foes, will be looking for their first-ever victory over the Huskers in Lincoln, as well as their first win over Nebraska since Oct. 3, 1987. Sunday's match will be the first of two televised matches for CSU, as they will take on league-leader and No. 17 Utah in Salt Lake City on the Nov. 14 CSTV Sunday Night Spikes: AVCA Match of the Week telecast.

QUICK HITS
Air Force -- Junior Kristin Hamlett currently ranks fifth in the MWC in kills per game (3.33), while junior Carly Siefken is fifth in assists per game (10.59).

BYU -- With two more victories in the Smith Fieldhouse last weekend, BYU continues to hold the league's best overall home winning percentage mark at .838 (382-74). The Cougars sweep of Air Force on Friday was their eighth three-game victory of the season. Freshman Erica Lott came off the bench to hit a team-high .682 (15-0-22) and tally 5.00 kills per game vs. the Falcons. Against New Mexico, she recorded 13 kills on a season-high .722 hitting percentage. She is currently eighth in the MWC in kills per game (3.31). The Cougars currently rank in the top three in five MWC statistical categories this season, including hitting percentage (.278, second), blocks per game (3.23, second), opponent hitting percentage (.159, third), kills per game (15.68, third) and service aces per game (1.69, third). BYU leads the conference in blocks per game in league play (3.53). Junior Lauren Richards leads the conference in aces per game (0.52), while sophomore Lindsy Hartsock is second in both hitting percentage (.401) and blocks per game (1.77).

Colorado State -- The nine points allowed by CSU in game two against San Diego State is the lowest opponent total this year and is the second lowest in school history since rally scoring began in 2001. The Rams held Air Force to seven points in the first game of their match on Nov. 9, 2001. Senior Melissa Courtney tallied eight service aces in three matches last week and now needs just eight more to break the CSU school record of 138 career aces held by Angela Knopf (1998-2001). She has 131 for her career which is currently tied for third. Colorado State is averaging 17.41 kills per game this season, which is on pace to break the MWC record for kills per game (17.28), held by the 2001 Ram team.

New Mexico -- The Lobos are currently third in the MWC with 2.90 blocks per game in conference matches. Their 22.5 team blocks against No. 17 Utah on Oct. 2 stands as the most by a MWC team this season. Junior Chelsea Sondrup, the UNM all-time leader in block assists with 280, is currently seventh on the school charts in total blocks with 296. She is 30 blocks behind Linda Archuleta's school record of 326. Sondrup is ninth in MWC matches in blocks with 1.15 per game. Junior Nicole Ryan leads the Lobos and is 10th in the Mountain West with 3.22 kills per game. In conference matches, she is also 10th with 3.26 kills per game. Senior Adah Burke is third in the MWC in digs per game (4.19).

San Diego State - Freshman Aime Cordiero is currently second in the MWC in digs per game in league play (4.36). Since returning to the lineup on Sept. 21 from an abdominal injury, senior Kara Moriarty is averaging 3.45 kills per game and 1.94 digs per game. Moriarty is the lone returning Aztec starter from the 2003 season.

UNLV -- UNLV's win over Wyoming was its fourth straight over an MWC opponent, marking the first time in Rebel history that they have won four consecutive Mountain West matches. Their six wins in conference play this season is tied for the most league wins UNLV has had in the five-year history of the MWC. Senior Nicki King and freshman Brittani Lumsden each recorded double-doubles in UNLV's win over Wyoming, giving them each a team-leading total of seven on the season. King had 59 assists and 10 digs against UW, while Lumsden knocked down 11 kills and tallied 11 digs. Freshman Maria Aladjova had her string of nine consecutive matches with at least 10 kills snapped when she totaled five kills against the Cowgirls. She has double digit kills in 17 of the 20 matches played this season.

Utah -- Junior Danielle Leichliter tallied a season-best 17.0 points against New Mexico last weekend, tallying 15 kills as part of a .500 hitting efficiency (15-2-26). She also collected three blocks (one solo) and scooped up six digs. Sophomore reserve Natalie Miller also stepped up big for the Utes with career-highs in hitting percentage (.600) and digs (five), and a season-best six kills against Air Force. Since hitting .169 in a loss to Notre Dame on Oct. 19, Utah has been hitting at a .311 clip and has hit better than its season average of .242 in its last three matches.

Wyoming -- Senior Amy Doman recorded 109 assists last weekend, moving her to 4,700 for her career. She needs just 67 more assists to take over first-place all-time at Wyoming. She also moved into 10th place in service aces with 92 for her career. Freshman Emily Veenker had a career-high 11 kills against UNLV on Friday. Freshman Andrea Tuck recorded a team-high 19 kills vs. the Rebels and has tallied double figure kills in five straight matches. Over the weekend, senior Sara Maytorena moved into fourth place all-time at UW in career service aces (107). She also currently sits at 1,289 career kills (fifth all-time) and 11th in digs (842).
