COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah middle blocker Lori Baird earned Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, marking her first career award.

Baird, a 6-2 freshman from Murray, Utah, helped the Utes to conference wins over UNLV and San Diego State, moving Utah from fifth place to third place in the conference standings last week. She connected on 11 kills in 21 attempts with just three errors for a .381 hitting percentage in a 3-0 win over then-second place UNLV. She also tallied three total blocks vs. the Rebels. Baird then led the Utes in kills, hitting and blocks, collecting a career-high 14 kills in hitting .481, and tying her career high in total blocks (nine), while adding four digs in the Utes four game win over San Diego State.

For the week, Baird hit .438 (25-4-48) and averaged 3.57 kills, 1.71 blocks and 0.57 digs per game. She currently averages 2.61 kills per game on the season, but has had double-digit kills in her last three matches, averaging 3.50 kills per game during that span.
