Second Half Shake Up
The second half of the conference season started with a bang as San Diego State upset No. 18 Utah in San Diego. The Utes and Cougars, now tied for second in the conference standings just two games behind MWC unbeaten Colorado State, will each host the Rams this weekend. Utah gets the first shot at CSU Friday, and BYU takes on the Rams Saturday. With matches at Air Force and New Mexico this week, the Aztecs may be in position to move closer to second place.

Aztecs Upset No. 18 Utah
Erin Grady led San Diego State with 13 total blocks as the Aztecs outblocked Utah 21-7 in a five-game upset of the 18th-ranked Utes in San Diego Saturday (15-7, 16-18, 11-15, 16-14 19-17). Grady tied the conference single-match block record set by Colorado State¹s Summer Jennings last season, and SDSU tied the team mark of 21 set by UNLV a year ago. The Aztecs, who had not played a five-game match until Oct. 13, are now 3-0 in five-gamers. Amy Hallquist racked up a match-high 25 kills for SDSU as five starters totaled double figure kills for the Aztecs. Lenka Urbanova led Utah with a 21-kill, 21-dig performance.

Cougars Move into Tie for Second
BYU siezed the opportunity to gain a match on the Utes in the conference standings after sweeping UNLV (15-6, 15-13, 15-9) and San Diego State (15-3, 18-16, 15-8) on the road last week. Sunny Tonga led four Cougars in double figure kills with 13 vs. the Rebels, and Nina Puikkonen recorded a match-high 23 kills for a .629 hitting percentage vs. the Aztecs.

Rams Continue Streak
Colorado State stretched its winning streak to 18 matches this season after sweeping Wyoming Saturday (15-4, 15-12, 15-11). Krista Swartzendruber led the Rams with 14 kills while Jamie Burke totaled 12 kills for the Cowgirls.

Lobos Win in Three
Micaela Conley led New Mexico with 19 kills as the Lobos won their only match of the week in three games over Air Force (15-12, 15-5, 15-13). Ana-Maria Ortega led the Falcons with a match-high 22 kills while teammate Delavane Diaz posted her league-leading ninth double-double of the season with 12 kills and 12 digs.

Utes Down Rebels
Kim Turner led Utah with 16 kills while Lenka Urbanova and Lucie Turkova each recorded double-doubles to lead the Utes past UNLV in four games Friday (8-15, 15-5, 15-12, 15-11). Patricia Assuncao led the Rebels with a match-high and career-high 21 kills.
