WEEK EIGHT QUICK HITS (Oct. 21)

Air Force -- The Falcons dropped matches at UNLV and San Diego State last week. Delavane Diaz hit a season-high .609 at San Diego State, putting away 15 kills in 23 attempts with just one error. As a team, the Falcons hit a season-high .412 vs. the Aztecs, marking the first time all year Air Force has topped a .400 hitting percentage.

BYU -- The Cougars' 20-match home win streak was snapped by Utah State last week. Nina Puikkonen broke into the NCAA top 25 in blocks last week and built on that total with a season-high 24 kills in a five-game loss at No. 18 Utah. Puikkonen surpassed the 1,500 career kill milestone to move into fifth place on the BYU all-time kill list.

Colorado State -- The Rams improved to 3-0 vs. ranked opponents this season with a three-game victory over No. 20 Colorado last week. The Rams also made short work of Wyoming with a three-game win to move to 16-0 on the season. Six Ram players topped .500 for hitting percentage vs. the Cowgirls. Soraya Santos, who moved into first place for hitting percentage in MWC matches (.518), hit .474 with a match-high 11 kills.

New Mexico -- The Lobos dropped a pair of MWC matches last week. UNM lost a four-game match at San Diego State despite outhitting the Aztecs .357 to .311. Lobo sophomore Anna Reines totaled a season-high 22 kills and a season-high .513 hitting percentage vs. SDSU. In her last three matches, Reines is hitting .440 and averaging 4.0 kills per game.

San Diego State -- The Aztecs last five losses are to ranked opponents, including a four-game loss to Hawai'i at Cox Arena last week. SDSU did bounce back for a pair of conference wins to improve to 6-3 in the MWC. Katie Magnuson notched her seventh double-double of the season with 14 kills and 14 digs in a win over New Mexico. Kara Moriarty (7), Nadia Privara (13), Melissa Cansdale (11) and Rochelle Currier (24) each posted career-highs for kills in their first start of the year-- a four-game win over Air Force. Robyn Gregg also posted a career-high 55 assists vs. the Falcons.

UNLV -- The Rebels posted a 2-0 record in league play last week. Patricia Assuncao served 15 straight points in game two vs. Air Force, including five aces, to help UNLV to a three-game sweep. Four Rebels reached double-digit kills in a four-game win over New Mexico, led by Blair Wilkes with 14. Sheila Ocasio-Clemente, the nation's leader in blocks, tallied 10 blocks vs. Air Force and another 11 vs. the Lobos.

Utah -- Utah played a pair teams from the state of Utah last week, dropping Weber State in three games and defeating No. 13 BYU in five games. Sylva Strzinkova tallied her league-best eighth double-double of the year vs. BYU with 13 kills and 18 digs. The victory over BYU marked the first back-to-back home wins over the Cougars in 20 years. The Utes now share the league's longest home win streak with Colorado State at 11 matches, including 10 straight this year.

Wyoming -- The Cowgirls took on 8th-ranked Colorado State in their only match of the week, falling to the Rams in three games. Rachel Lau continues to lead the MWC with 21 solo blocks this season after picking up two vs. the Rams.
