"Go To" Players
Several Mountain West volleyball players have come through with big kill performances when needed.
Courtney Cox leads the MWC with 10 or more kills in 17 of 22 matches this season and a league-best
4.28 kills per game. Nina Puikkonen has been the "go to" player for BYU by posting 10 or more kills
in 15 of 18 matches.
Balanced Attack
Despite being in second place in the conference standings, Utah has no players ranked in the MWC
statistics for kills per game. The Utes have relied on a solid team effort this season as nine
different players have topped 10 kills or more in a match this season, and six different players
have been the team leader for kills in a match. As a team, the Utes are third in the league in
kills, hitting percentage and blocks per game, and they lead the conference in digs.

Colorado State remained steady at No. 3 this week in the USA Today/AVCA Division I Top 25 Coaches
poll. BYU moved up to No. 16 and Utah slipped to No. 18. The Rams have been ranked in the poll 125
weeks since the poll began in 1982 and the Cougars have been ranked 220 weeks. BYU reached its
highest ranking in school history at No. 1 on four occasions. Pacific, Nebraska and Stanford lead
the nation with 243 consecutive weeks in the poll.

Mountain West Conference First
Colorado State¹s upset of No. 1 UCLA in Gainesville, Fla., in week one marks the first-ever victory
by any Mountain West Conference team over a No. 1-ranked opponent. Utah and BYU matched that feat
this season as the Utes and the Cougars each topped then-No. 1 Stanford in week three.
