THIS WEEK IN THE MWC
No. 12 Utah (15-2, 7-0 MWC) maintains its conference lead as the first half of MWC play wraps up this week with seven league matches slated. The 12th-ranked Utes went 2-0 in league play last week keeping up their one match advantage over second-place and 19th-ranked BYU (15-2, 6-1). On the strength of its four match league win streak, Colorado State moved into a tie for third place with UNLV. The Rams and Rebels both have 4-2 conference records.

BYU at Wyoming opens league play on Thursday, followed by Friday's New Mexico at TCU, San Diego State at Air Force and UNLV at Colorado State's matches. Saturday's conference matches pits SDSU at Colorado State, UNLV at Air Force and Utah at Wyoming.

Air Force, TCU and Utah will also be in non-conference action this week.

MWC QUICK HITS
AIR FORCE -- Air Force was swept by Colorado State last Friday...Freshman Jocelyn Booker posted a .545 hitting percentage (7-1-11) vs. the Rams...Freshman Katie Batchelder led the Falcons with eight kills.

BYU -- No. 19 BYU went 3-0 last week, defeating Utah Valley State, TCU and New Mexico...The Cougars are 17-1 in the Smith Fieldhouse over the last two seasons...BYU averages 2,279 fans per contest this year, which currently ranks seventh in the nation...Sophomore Amy Schlauder and junior Erica Lott both returned from injury in Friday's match vs. TCU...Schlauder recorded career-highs in assists (70) and digs (10) vs. New Mexico, while Lott posted back-to-back double-doubles...Junior Chelsea Goodman has recorded a MWC-high 11 double-doubles this season.

COLORADO STATE -- Colorado State went 2-0 last week, defeating Denver, 3-1, in a non-conference match and sweeping Air Force in league action...The Rams are currently riding a season-best five-match win streak...Head Coach Tom Hilbert won his 250th career match at Colorado State vs. Denver...Hilbert is now 251-60 (.807) in his 10 seasons as coach of the Rams...Freshman Katelin Batten notched 14 digs at Air Force, giving her the CSU school record for consecutive double figure dig matches at 14...She has collected less than 10 digs in a match only once in her career...Junior Amanda Fahnestock did not committ a hitting error in either match last week, notching 14 kills in 28 swings for a .500 hitting percentage.

NEW MEXICO -- The Lobos went 0-2 in conference play last week...Freshman Rose Morris led the Lobos in kills, service aces and assists on the week...Against Utah, she had a career-high 13 digs and seven kills, while notching a career-high 16 kills, 11 digs and three assists vs. BYU...Against the Utes, junior Kelly Therkelsen became just the fifth UNM player all-time to collect 300 total blocks...She is eight block assists away from 300, and when she achieves that feat, she will be only the second Lobo in the program's 31 year history to post 300 block assists and 300 total blocks.

SAN DIEGO STATE -- San Diego State defeated Wyoming, 3-1, in its only action of the week...The Aztecs snapped a five match losing streak with their win over the Cowgirls...Seniors Melanie Greene and Audra Dent led SDSU with 15 kills apiece vs. Wyoming...Greene also chipped in 10 digs for her team-leading seventh double-double of the season...Greene now has 21 career double-doubles, which is the most among active MWC players...Junior Aime Cordeiro collected 20 digs vs. the Cowgirls...She is now 11 digs from notching the 1,000th dig of her career, which would make her only the seventh Aztec ever to accomplish that feat...Cordeiro continues to lead the MWC in digs per game (5.58).

TCU -- TCU went 0-2 last week, losing to No. 19 BYU and then-No. 16 Utah...Junior LeMeita Smith led the Horned Frogs with 19 kills, while senior Calli Corley led the team with 26 digs...Sophomore Nirelle Hampton had 53 assists vs. the Cougars, marking the seventh match this season that she had at least 50 assists...Smith also led TCU in kills vs. the Utes (nine)...TCU leads the conference in service aces per game (2.26).

UNLV -- UNLV swept Wyoming in its only action of the week last Saturday, extending its winning streak to four matches...The Rebels have now swept eight matches this season and are four sweeps from tying the program's all-time mark of 12 sweeps in a single season...Junior Maria Aladjova has tallied double digit kills in all but two matches on the season and has collected 10 double doubles so far this year.

UTAH -- No. 12 Utah went 3-0 overall last week, including a 2-0 record in conference play...On the season, 13 of the Utes' 15 wins have been sweeps, with the other two wins being four-game affairs...Overall, only four of Utah's matches have gone more than three games this season...The Utes have reeled off 13 straight wins and have not lost a match since a 3-1 setback at then-No. 14 USC on Sept. 2...The current string of wins sets the school record for the longest winning streak, besting the 12-match run during the 2004 season...Utah finished last week with 25 service aces, including 13 vs. New Mexico...Junior Kate Robison led the way with seven aces, followed by sophomore Airial Salvo (six) and Sydney Anderson (four)...Over the last four matches, sophmore Lori Baird is averaging a team-best 1.64 blocks per game, making her the only Ute to average more than one block per game over that span.

WYOMING -- Wyoming lost to San Diego State and UNLV in conference play last week...The Cowgirls have lost five of their last six matches...Sophomore Tasha Weishahn had back-to-back double-doubles last week...She had 43 assists and 11 digs at San Diego State, and 25 assists and 12 digs at UNLV, giving her eight double-doubles on the season...Freshman Jess Srajer had a career-high seven kills at UNLV...Junior Rachel Smith collected 17 kills in two matches last week, moving her into 10th place on the all-time Wyoming school list with 955 career kills.
