Mountain West Conference Announces Volleyball Player of the Week Utah's Lori Baird earns third career weekly honor.
Oct. 6, 2008 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah outside hitter Lori Baird has been named Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week marking the third honor in her career. Baird, a 6-1 senior from Murray, Utah, led Utah to a 3-0 record, including conference wins at TCU and New Mexico, last week. In a non-conference match vs. Weber State, Baird had 11 kills, a match-high five blocks, four digs and one assist. She only had one hitting error in 20 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage vs. the Wildcats. Against TCU, she totaled a match-high 14 kills, five blocks, two digs and one assist. At New Mexico, Baird notched her second double-double of the season with 21 kills and a season-high 10 blocks. She hit .447 (21-4-38) in four sets vs. the Lobos, while also tallying four digs. For the week, Baird averaged 4.18 kills, 1.82 blocks, 0.91 digs and 5.23 points per set with a .420 hitting percentage (46-9-88).
