Peckham Named Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week Junior leads Colorado State to victories over BYU and Utah.
Oct. 2, 2000
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Junior setter Allison Peckham from Colorado State was named the Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the Rams to victories over a pair of ranked conference rivals last week. This week's Player of the Week honor is the first for Peckham.
A native of London, Ontario, Canada, Peckham dished out 51 assists and was a perfect 4-for-4 in kills and attempts as the Rams swept No. 14 BYU Friday (15-12, 15-6, 15-11) before a season-high crowd of 5,307 at Moby Arena in Fort Collins. Peckham picked up another 37 assists in a three-game win over No. 16 Utah (15-1, 15-8, 15-10) Saturday.
A second team All-MWC performer in 1999, Peckham totaled 88 assists (14.67 apg), 14 digs (2.33 dpg) and six total blocks (1.0 bpg) in the two wins. She distributed the ball evenly in both matches as four Rams notched double-digit kills vs. BYU, and three had double figure kills vs. Utah.
The conference leader with 13.19 assists per game this season, Peckham set the MWC junior record for assists earlier this season with 65 at Nebraska on Sept. 2.
