If the first week of Conference action is any indication, the 2012 season is going to be an interesting one. Nevada (1-0), New Mexico (2-0) and UNLV (2-0) finished the first week undefeated while Air Force and Fresno State sit at 1-1.
By The Numbers ... 95 - Three Mountain West seniors have started at least 95 matches in their collegiate careers ... and counting. Wyoming outside hitter Jodi Purdy ranks tied for 16th in the league with 110 starts. San Diego State middle blocker Andrea Hannasch made her 100th career start last Saturday at Nevada, while Colorado State middle blocker Megan Plourde made her 96th career start at New Mexico on Sept. 20. 0 - Through the first seven matches of Conference play, there has not been a 3-set match. All seven have had 3-1 or 3-2 results. Senior CLASS Awards Top 30 ... Colorado State's Dana Cranston, San Diego State's Andrea Hannasch and Wyoming's Jodi Purdy are among 30 NCAA Division I senior women's volleyball student-athletes named to the 2012 Senior CLASS Award® candidate class today. The award honors student-athletes who excel both on and off the court, having notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
