Colorado State's Mekana Barnes earns third weekly honor of the season.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State middle blocker Mekana Barnes has earned Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the third time this season.

Barnes, a 6-0 junior from Highlands Ranch, Colo., led the first-place Rams to a 1-1 conference record on the week, including a five-game upset over No. 17 BYU. She started the week with her second double-double of the season with a Mountain West Conference and Colorado State school record 19 total blocks (17 assisted, two solo) and a season-high 23 kills in a four-game loss to Utah. Barnes' 19 blocks surpasses the old conference record of 17 set by BYU's Lindsey Metcalf (2000-04) on September 28, 2002. She also set a career-best in points (34.5) and passed the 300 block threshold for her career vs. the Utes, while turning in a hitting percentage of .489 (23-1-45), three digs and a service ace. In CSU's victory over the 17th -ranked Cougars, Barnes had 18 kills, four blocks, three service aces and two digs.

For the week, Barnes averaged 4.56 kills, 2.56 blocks, 0.56 digs and 6.39 points per game, while hitting .386 in nine games played.
