Mountain West Conference Announces Volleyball Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah opposite hitter Karolina Bartkowiak has earned Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, marking the fourth weekly honor of her career.

Bartkowiak, a 6-2 senior from Aurora, Ill., was named Most Valuable Player after leading the Utes to the Northwestern Challenge tournament title in Evanston, Ill., last week. She posted double-figure kills in all three matches, starting with a 10-kill, 11-dig performance in a four-set loss to Morehead State. In a four-set win over Mississippi, she registered 13 kills, six digs, two assists and two blocks, while hitting at a .455 clip. In the championship contest, Bartkowiak had 15 kills, four digs and one block as Utah clinched the tournament title with a five-set win over Northwestern.

For the week, Bartkowiak averaged 2.92 kills, 0.75 digs and 0.31 assists per set, while hitting .292. She also accounted for 3.12 points per set in 13 total sets.
