By Nick Sebesta Athletic Media Relations COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sixty-three Colorado State student-athletes have earned Mountain West Scholar-Athlete awards for their work in the classroom during the 2008-09 academic year. The Mountain West Conference made the announcement last week. The 63 student-athletes honored by the MWC represent each of CSU's varsity athletics programs. Five individuals were recognized twice, for their efforts as part of the CSU cross country and indoor/outdoor track & field programs: Colin Anderson , Ryan Friese , Kendra Gerk , Allison Gohl , Nicole Peters and Crystal Pitney . Freshmen Nicole Peters and Myla Kilchrist were also two of 34 individuals throughout the conference to make the list with a 4.00 GPA. The MWC Scholar-Athlete award is the highest academic honor bestowed by the conference. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in an NCAA-sponsored sport. The Rams' 63 Scholar-Athlete award winners are:
