NEWNAN, Ga. -- Several members of the Air Force volleyball team donated hair to the "Locks of Love" campaign during the Academy's 2009 spring break. Nicole Hartig, Jessica Hellmann and Caroline Kurtz joined Kelly Spencer at home in Sharpsburg, Ga., and donated 32 inches of hair to the program.

Hartig, Hellmann, Kurtz and Spencer donated their hair at the "In the Zone" hair salon in Newnan. "Locks of Love" is a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

In all, Hellmann gave up the most hair, leaving 12 inches behind. Hartig and Spencer each contributed eight inches, while Kurtz added four. The quartet had been growing out their hair for this cause since 2007.
