Ram Volleyball Releases 2007 Schedule Rams face competitive slate in 2007
June 1, 2007 Colorado State University volleyball head coach Tom Hilbert has released the 2007 schedule, one of the most competitive lineups yet. During the 2007 season, Colorado State will face seven opponents - BYU, Colorado, Hawai'i, Michigan, Ohio State, Utah and Winthrop, who participated in the 2006 NCAA tournament. "Once again, we are going to play a quality schedule that will test our team throughout the entire season," said head coach Tom Hilbert. "This will prepare us for our goals of an MWC Championship and 13th straight NCAA berth. The season kicks off with the Asics Challenge held in Honolulu, Hawai'i. The Rams open the tournament against Pac-10 foe Oregon State, before facing host Hawai'i, who appeared in the quarterfinals of the 2006 NCAA tournament. The Rams then close the tournament against Michigan. After opening on the road the Rams return to Moby Arena to host the Coors Classic (Aug. 30-Sept. 1) and the Hilton Classic (Sept. 6-Sept. 8). In the Coors Classic Colorado State will host Pacific and Ohio State. In the Hilton Classic the Rams face rival Colorado, Miami (OH) and Winthrop. Colorado State opens Mountain West Conference play in the friendly confines of Moby Arena. The Rams begin their conference slate against TCU (Sept. 12) and New Mexico (Sept. 15). They will then travel to Utah to face the defending MWC regular-season champions who CSU upset in the 2006 conference tournament. Other home matches include San Diego State (Sept. 27), UNLV (Sept. 29), BYU (Oct. 18), Utah (Oct. 20) and a renewal of the border war with Wyoming (Nov. 7). Air Force will be the last home match on Nov. 12 at Moby Arena. Also there will be an Alumni match on Oct. 5. Colorado State will also host non-conference team Northern Colorado (Oct. 2). On the road the Rams face Denver (Oct. 30) and Arizona (Nov. 9). Last season, the Rams finished 20-10 and 11-4 in MWC. CSU advanced to the NCAA tournament, but lost in the first round to defending national champion Washington.
