LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming head volleyball coach Pat Stangle announced the signing of a student-athlete to a national letter of intent to attend the University of Wyoming. Kayla Govier, a rightside hitter/middle blocker, from Arvada, Colo., will begin her career in the fall of 2007.

"We're very excited to have Kayla join our program," said Stangle. "She is a versatile volleyball player who works extremely hard and has tremendous upside. I expect her to make an impact both immediately and in the future."

Kayla Govier, 6-3, Rightside Hitter/Middle Blocker, Arvada, Colo. (Arvada West HS):

A two-time letterwinner in volleyball and a Second Team All-Jeffco Conference selection while attending Arvada West High School. She helped her team this past season to an 11-10 overall record and a third place finish in the conference with a 7-3 mark. As a senior, she averaged 2.1 kills and 1.2 digs, while adding 27 solo blocks and 18 block assists. During her junior year, Govier tallied 43 kills, 11 digs, 19 block assists and nine solo blocks. She was coached in high school by Debbie Pospicil. Govier also played club volleyball with the Juggernaut Volleyball Club and the Elite 18 Team the past two seasons. She was coached by Tom Paszko. One of two children of Tom and Jane Govier.
