ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Lobo volleyball team heads to Houston, Texas for a tournament on Saturday. UNM opens against North Texas and then faces off with Oklahoma. After that, the field will be reseeded and New Mexico will play two more matches to round out the day. Twenty one collegiate teams are competing in this weekend's event, which is being held in northwest Houston at a training center.

According to head coach Jeff Nelson, the spring season has gone well thus far. In the first two tournaments there have been some great performances, including winning the Lobo Tournament.

"The intensity and level of play is improving daily right now," said Nelson. "If we can keep up this pace, the fall should be very exciting," Nelson said.

New Mexico is slated to compete in Colorado Springs, Colo. on April 21st at the US Olympic Training Center. The day will feature two matches against the USA Volleyball National Training Team and a match against Colorado.
