FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State volleyball team, seeded first in the Mountain West Conference Championship, won its 18th consecutive match against Air Force in the opening round of the tournament in three games, 30-24, 30-19, 30-21. With the win the Rams improve to 21-8 while Air Force ends its season with an 8-22 record.

Colorado State was led by Michelle Knox and Katie Jo Shirley with 10 kills each, while Shirley recorded a career-high 10 blocks for her first ever double-double in kills and blocks. Knox hit a team-high .500 and Lindsey Kerr notched a match-high 12 digs. Casey Bauer started for the Rams on the right side and tallied a career-high nine kills.

Air Force was led by Tiffany Bishop with eight kills and a .333 hitting percentage, while Jaime Beatty notched a team-high seven digs and four different Falcons had two blocks in the match. Lamecca Jefferson and Elise Hickerson tied for second in kills with seven each.

Colorado State will face BYU in the semifinals tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. while the early match will feature San Diego State and Utah.

The Rams and Falcons met for the third straight year in the MWC Championship and or the third straight year Colorado State posted a 3-0 win.

Colorado State's Michelle Knox recorded double figure kills in all three meetings vs. Air Force this season (10 at AFA Oct. 11; 11 vs. AFA Nov. 9).

Air Force's Tiffany Bishop hit a combined .283 with 20 kills in two meetings vs. Colorado State in the regular season. Through two matches tonight, Bishop had seven kills and hit .385.

Air Force's Delavane Diaz is second all-time on the MWC career attacks list with 2,773. Diaz had a match-high 24 attacks tonight vs. the Rams.

Colorado State's Katie Jo Shirley recorded a season-high 10 blocks en route to her fourth double-double of the season as she added 10 kills. It was her first double-double with kills and blocks (the others were kills and digs).
