Colorado State Defeats BYU To Advance To The Championship Match At The MWC Volleyball Championship Rams take on No. 1 Utah tomorrow at 3 p.m.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Second-seeded Colorado State defeated No. 3 BYU, 3-1, Friday evening at the Mountain West Conference Volleyball Championship at Moby Arena in Fort Collins, Colo. With the victory, the Rams advance to their second-straight MWC Tournament title match, taking on No. 1 Utah tomorrow at 3 p.m. Colorado State was led by five players with double-figure kills, Backy Sarauer with 15, Tess Rogers with 14, Katie Jo Shirley-Cahoon with 13, Bri Frech with 12 and Dre Downs with 11. Three Rams recorded double-doubles in the match with Rogers adding 10 digs to her line, Frech registering 13 digs and setter Melissa Courtney posting 57 assists and 11 digs in the contest. Lindsy Hartstock led the Cougars with 12 kills and nine blocks. Teammate Lindsey Metcalf also had nine blocks in the match. Setter Lauren Richards paced the Cougars with 44 assists. Three players from BYU had double-figure digs, April Varner and Kim Wilson with 11 and Lindsey Evans with 15. The Cougars had 16.5 total team blocks for the evening. Colorado State moves its record to 24-3 on the season, while BYU dropped to 18-11.
