No. 3 BYU Sweeps No. 6 San Diego State At MWC Volleyball Championship Cougars led by Erica Lott and Lexi Brown.

Fort Collins, Colo. - The third-ranked BYU volleyball team claimed a 30-18, 30-28, 30-15 sweep over No. 6 San Diego State in the first round of the Mountain West Volleyball Championship Thursday night in Fort Collins, Colo. The Cougars used a .341 team hitting percentage spearheaded by a 15-kill performance by Erica Lott to out-offense the Aztecs. Lott hit a match-high .500 followed by Lexi Brown who hit .440 and recorded 12 kills. Cougar April Varner registered 13 kills and 13 digs for the only double-double of the match and setter Lauren Richards had a match-best 47 assists in the contest. Melissa Stapley posted a team-high 13 kills to go with nine digs to lead San Diego State. Aztecs Kara Moriarty and Kari Dykema each recorded double-figure digs in the match with 13 and 10 respectively.
BYU (18-10) faces the winner of Colorado State and New Mexico on Friday at 3:30 p.m. It marks the sixth-straight year that the Cougars have advanced to the semifinal round. San Diego State ends its season with a 4-24 mark.
