No. 1 Utah Defeats No. 8 Air Force In Quarterfinals Of MWC Championship Utah continues play on Friday.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - In the first match of the Mountain West Conference Tournament, the top-ranked Utah Utes defeated eighth-ranked Air Force, 3-0. Utah will continue on to the semifinals on Friday playing the winner of the UNLV and Wyoming match at 1 p.m. MST on Friday. The Utes dominated the Falcons in all three games hitting .261 in the match as a team while holding the Falcons to .030 percentage. The Utes used a 52-23 advantage in kills to hold the upper hand offensively on the day. The Utes were led by Lyndsey Henderson and Shelly Sommerfeldt. Henderson had 10 kills and four blocks while Sommerfeldt had 11 kills, one block, and a team-high .259 hitting percentage. Tracy Neumeier led the team with 12 digs for the Utes.
Utah's all-time record in MWC Tournament play is now 11-3, while Air Force moves to 0-6. The Falcons' season ended losing 17 straight matches. Utah sophomore Connie Dangerfield moved into second-place all-time in the Utah single-season record books with 398 digs for the year.
