Rebels Swept By Dons Saturday Afternoon
UNLV gets a double-double from Stephanie Thelen, 14 kills from Makenzie Moea'i in loss to San Francisco.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Rebels (6-5) suffered a 3-0 defeat to the San Francisco Dons (7-5) Saturday afternoon in the UNLV Classic held in the Cox Pavilion. USF claimed the match with set scores of 25-23, 25-13, 25-21.
The Dons out-hit the Rebels .306 to .129 and amassed 14 more kills (46-to-32) and six less errors (13-to-19) on seven more swings (101-to-108). USF hit .351 or better in two of its sets and topped out in the second with a .565 effort. UNLV, on the other hand, hit .267 or below in all three sets.
Stephanie Thelen notched her fourth double-double of the season with a combination of 24 assists and 10 digs. She also had two kills and two assisted blocks.
Thelen was joined by Allison Davies in double figures in digs with a team-high 11. Davies also chipped in two assists and two aces.
Makenzie Moea'i was the lone Rebel to notch double digits in kills with 14 on .481 hitting. Moea'i also had three assisted blocks and two digs.
USF was led by a double-double from Joan Caloiaro and her 33 assists, 11 digs, four kills and one assisted block. The Dons got a match-high 17 kills from Vendula Strakova, who also pitched in eight digs, one assist, one ace and one assisted block.
Earlier in the day, Baylor swept Fresno State.
UNLV returns to action at 7:30 pm Saturday night in the finale of the Classic against Baylor. Prior to that match, Fresno State and San Francisco square off at 5:00 pm for their final matches of the weekend.
