VILLANOVA, Penn. - The TCU volleyball continued their hot start to the 2011 season with a 3-1 (25-17, 27-29, 25-22, 25-16) victory over Colgate Saturday morning. Four Horned Frogs tallied at least 11 kills in the victory, led by Kristen Hester's 16.

Jordan Raines posted her second straight double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs. Sloane Sunstrum added 11 kills and eight digs, while Yvonne Igodan smacked down 11 kills and racked up a team-high six blocks. Megan Munce posted seven kills, 46 assists, six digs, two blocks and a match-high three aces. Stephanie Holland pitched in with five kills, while Sarah Joeckel led all defensive players with 24 digs.

TCU raced out to an early advantage in the first set as kills from Munce, Raines and Igodan helped the Frogs build a 10-3 lead. Igodan teamed with Munce on the outside to give TCU its largest lead of the set, 18-9.

A serving error put Munce on the service line and she drilled a pair of aces to double up the Raiders, 22-11. Colgate tried to climb back in the set with 6-2 run, but Hester finished off the 25-17 set one victory.

In the second set, the Frogs found themselves in a 10-7 hole, but they were able to dig out with a 6-1 run that put them in front 13-11. Meghan Horio served up an ace and Hester stayed strong in the middle with a solo block. Munce delivered a pair of kills and teamed with Hester to give the Frogs the two-point lead.

A back-and-forth battle ensued as the teams fought to a 23-all tie. The Frogs staved off a pair of set points and eventually got one of their own on an attacking error by Kenzie Hume. The Raiders rallied back to take a 28-27 lead and an attacking error by the Frogs allowed the Raiders to tie the match at one.

TCU and Colgate battled to a 9-9 tie in the third set, but a 3-0 run highlighted by three straight kills from Hester put the Frogs back in front to stay. Raines joined the attacking party as did Holland and Sunstrum to help the Frogs build a 19-14 lead, forcing a Colgate timeout.

The Raiders responded from the break with a 6-2 run to pull back within one, 21-20, but kills from Hester and Raines dimmed any comeback hopes for the Raiders. Raines gave the Frogs set point and Munce team with Mattie Burleson on a block to seal the 25-22 set three victory.

It was all Horned Frogs in the fourth set as they closed out the win. Leading 12-10, an attacking error by the Raiders set the Frogs on course as the miscue keyed a 7-1 run that gave the Frogs a 19-11 lead. Igodan, Raines and Holland blasted kills and the rally was capped by a service ace from Raines.

Colgate tried to climb back in the set with a 4-1 run, but Hester came through with a pair of kills to make it 23-16. Munce gave the Frogs match point with a kill and Sunstrum put the exclamation point on the win with an ace to close out the 25-16 win.

The Frogs, 8-0, will wrap up play in the Villanova Classic Saturday night against the host Wildcats. Match time is set for 6:30 (CST) p.m.
