COLUMBUS, Ohio - Round one of the National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships was a successful one for BYU's Olga Boulytcheva, as she beat No. 19 Emma Murphy from San Diego 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the round of 16.

Boulytcheva started the match off strong, taking an early 4-2 lead on her opponent. At that point, however, she started to stumble, losing four straight games and dropping the set 4-6. Boulytcheva's struggles continued into the second set until, finding herself down 4-3, she made an adjustment in her game that allowed her to battle back and take the set 6-4.

"That's what Olga does well," BYU head coach Craig Manning said. "She's a good adjuster. She just played her normal, solid, good tennis."

Control of the match swung in Boulytcheva's favor once she figured out the adjustments she needed to make to win. The momentum she gained from her come-from-behind win in the second set was enough to carry her to a 6-2 win in the third. Manning said it was a battle the whole way and neither player stopped fighting, but Boulytcheva's adjustments in the second set were the difference.

"Olga played her game," Manning said. "And it was good enough to get the outcome she wanted."
