Lobos Travel to Kansas City

Albuquerque, N.M.- The University of New Mexico women's tennis team will take their final road trip of fall play this weekend as they head to Kansas City, Mo. for the Jayhawk Invitational. Action will take place Friday through Sunday starting at 9 a.m. all three days. "We are looking forward to competing with a whole new set of teams," head coach Roy Cañada said. "Our goal still remains gaining the much needed experience." Players from Kansas State, Iowa State, Abilene Christian, Missouri, New Mexico State, Arkansas State, and University of Missouri-Kansas City will all make up the tournament field. What Happened Last? Villanueva-Forte earned her first doubles win with partner Ashley Bonner. The duo defeated Sophia Bergner and Christin Thompson, 8-6. Kristin Eggleston earned her first collegiate win defeating Shannon Young from Air Force, 6-4, 6-4. Joining Eggleston is fellow freshman Michaela Oldani who won in three sets over Jenny Whateley from Northern Colorado, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3. The duo also earned their first doubles victory over Molly McDevitt and Mahdi Besovic, 8-5. Manumea Durie also walked away with a win over Allie Chermel from Air Force, 0-6, 6-4, 1-0 (6).
