Leimbach advances to semifinals of Baylor All Saints Medical Pro Tennis Classic TCU alum Story Tweedie-Yates to play in doubles final
June 23, 2006 FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU's Nicole Leimbach advanced to the semifinals of the 2006 Baylor All Saints Medical Pro Tennis Classic with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Ellah Nze on Friday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. Leimbach is currently ranked 620th in the world rankings. She earned All-Mountain West Conference accolades during the 2006 season and played an important role in TCU's run at the MWC regular season and conference crowns. The Colorado Springs, Colo., product will battle Jamie Hampton, who made her way into the semifinals with a 7-5, 6-0 triumph over Helena Besovic, for a spot in the tournament championship match. Top-seeded Alexa Glatch continued her strong tournament run by knocking off sixth-seeded Nina Munch-Soegaard 6-3, 6-1. Glatch, currently ranked 249th, has yet to drop a set during the tournament. Beau Jones, the No. 4 seed, will face Glatch in the semifinals after downing Maria Mokh 3-6, 6-1, 7-5. TCU alum Story Tweedie-Yates and Maria Victoriz Domina advanced to the doubles final by defeating Salome Devidze and Jones 7-5, 5-7, 6-2. For Tweedie-Yates, it is the second-straight year that she will compete in the championship of the tournament. Last year, she took on eventual singles and doubles champion Tara Snyder for the individual title. The tandem will face No. 1 seed Nicole Kriz and Christina Fusano for the championship. Saturday's action is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. The USTA Pro Circuit, which includes more than 100 events spanning the United States, features up-and-coming players as well as rehabilitating veterans. Some of today's most notable players have competed on the Pro Circuit. Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, Michael Chang, Lindsay Davenport, Chanda Rubin, Anna Kournikova, Meghann Shaughnessy and Iva Majoli are all USTA Pro Circuit Alums.
