HOUSTON, Texas - For the second consecutive week, current TCU women's tennis player Nina Munch-Soegaard and former Frog Helena Besovic teamed up to win the doubles title at the USTA Pro Circuit event held in Houston. The duo took the crown last weekend at the event in El Paso, Texas.

After recording a straight sets victory in the opening round over Hillary and Megan Toole (USA), Munch-Soegaard (NOR) and Besovic (BIH) put together an impressive performance against Klara Jagosova (CZE) and Larikah Russell (BAH) in the quarterfinals. Down 5-2 in the third set, the tandem brought the match to 5-4, and saved seven match points to tie the match at 5-5. In the tiebreaker, the duo found themselves down 6-2, and managed to save five match points to take the victory.

Munch-Soegaard and Besovic cruised to a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Melanie Oudin (USA) and Nina Pantic (CAN) in the semifinals before knocking off Kimberly Couts (USA) and Christina McHale (USA) 7-6(2), 7-6(5) in the championship match.

Munch-Soegaard also qualified for the singles portion by winning two matches in the pre-qualifying round. In the main draw, Munch-Soegaard defeated Christina McHale (USA) and Emily Fraser (USA) to move on to the quarterfinals before falling 6-2, 6-0 to Jelena Pandzic (CRO). It was the second consecutive week that the TCU freshman advanced to the singles quarterfinals.

Besovic starred for the Horned Frogs from 2004-06, and was named the ITA Senior Player of the Year in the Southwest region last season. Munch-Soegaard led the Frogs with a 21-6 record this season and received the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year award.
