STANFORD, Calif. - In a highly anticipated rematch between the No. 1 squad of Alice Barnes and Anne Yelsey versus the No. 14 team of Helena Besovic and Ana Cetnik, the tandem from Stanford squeaked by once again by a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Friday afternoon in the round of 16 of the 2006 NCAA doubles championships.

Similar to the first matchup, during the NCAA team championships Sweet 16, the Frog squad jumped out to an early lead. The top-ranked tandem was able to battle through adversity and regain the lead. Once taking the lead, Barnes and Yelsey did not relinquish and went on to capture the victory.

Besovic and Cetnik finished the season with a record of 13-4, which includes victories over the No. 3 team from Harvard, No. 4 squad from New Mexico and the No. 32 tandem from San Diego State.

For their efforts this season, they were named to the All-Mountain West Conference doubles team.
