Besovic, Cetnik advance to Round of 16

NCAA singles and doubles day two recap

STANFORD, Calif. -- The 14th-ranked doubles squad of senior Helena Besovic and junior Ana Cetnik posted a 7-6(3), 6-3 victory over No. 29 Dominika Dieskova and Anna Olivos of Oregon on Thursday afternoon to advance to the round of 16 in the 2006 NCAA Doubles Championships.

The TCU duo will face the winner of the Stanford versus Alabama match on Friday.

Besovic also competed in singles action earlier in the afternoon. Currently ranked 28th in the ITA polls, Besovic suffered a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 setback to 10th-ranked Theresa Logar of Stanford. Besovic's season is highlighted with a 19-match win streak, which included victories over six ranked opponents. The Sarajevo, Bosnia, product was named to the All-Mountain West Conference singles squad and was recognized as the ITA Southwest Region Senior of the Year.

15th-ranked Leimbach saw her season come to an end at the hands of 36th-rated Tatsiana Uvarova of Virginia Commonwealth. Leimbach finished the 2005-06 season with a record of 24-8 and garnered All-Mountain West Conference singles team accolades.
