STANFORD, Calif. - TCU sophomore Nicole Leimbach and senior Helena Besovic advanced to the second round of the 2006 NCAA Singles Championships, currently underway at Taube Stadium. Both players resume action on Thursday.

Leimbach, currently ranked 17th in the ITA singles poll, posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory over 38th-ranked Jenna Long of North Carolina. The Colorado Springs, Colo., product will face 36th-ranked Tatsiana Uvarova of VCU on Thursday.

No. 28 Besovic notched a 6-3, 6-1 triumph over 37th-rated Danielle Steinberg of Arizona. The ITA Southwest Region Senior of the Year draws the winner of Stanford's Theresa Logar and New Mexico's Maja Kovacek in the second round.
