ATHENS, Ga. - TCU women's tennis player Ana Cetnik defeated No. 15 Riza Zalameda of UCLA 6-4, 6-3 on Wednesday in the opening round of the NCAA Individual Championships held at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga. With the win, Cetnik advances to the round of 32 to face California's Nina Henkel on Thursday.

"Ana had a really nice match today," said TCU head coach Jefferson Hammond. "She played smart and was very positive, coming back from being down 3-0 to win six straight games. That is just a testament of her winning attitude and never-say-die mentality."

Cetnik, who is ranked No. 57 by Fila/ITA, was down 3-0 to start the second set, and managed to reel off six consecutive games to take the match from Zalameda, who was one of the tournament's No. 9-16 seeds. Zalameda played the top spot all season for the Bruins, who fell in the national championship game Tuesday night.

The TCU senior from Belgrade, Serbia, pushed her spring record to 20-7, and will face No. 22 Henkel tomorrow for the second time this year, falling 6-1, 6-1 earlier this season.

Cetnik will also begin doubles play with Anna Sydorska on Thursday. The duo is the tournament's No. 4 seed, and will face Miami's tandem of Audrey Banada and Romy Farah. Doubles action will begin at 1 p.m. CT.
