SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis doubles team of Silvia Tornier and Indra Erichsen lost their first round NCAA Doubles Championship match to 17th-ranked Alexis Gordon and Julia Scaringe of Florida, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, on Tuesday afternoon in Gainesville, Fla.

The 34th-ranked Aztec doubles team finished the campaign with a 24-9 record and lost for just the second time in their last 14 matches. Tornier and Erichsen were originally named the second alternate for the championship, but earned a spot in the 32-team field when two teams withdrew.

After losing the first set, the Aztec pair battled back to take the final four games of the second set to force a third set. The Florida pair, which helped the Gators win the team national championship earlier in the week, responded with a 6-2 victory in the decisive set.

The doubles championship, which began on Tuesday, continues through Saturday, May 24.
