COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU's Andrei Mlendea and Ana Cetnik have been named the Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively.

A sophomore from Oradea, Romania, Mlendea helped the Horned Frogs to the Mountain West Conference Tournament title last week in San Diego, Calif. In the semifinals, he posted a victory over BYU's James Ludlow at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-2). In the championship vs. top-seeded San Diego State, Mlendea helped the Frogs to an early lead by winning his doubles match as he teamed with Cosmin Cotet to defeat Stephan Timu and Anthony Gomez (8-3) at the No. 2 position. He also took the first set from the Aztecs' Christian Groh at No. 1 singles, but was unable to finish as TCU had already secured the victory. Mlendea was 5-1 in singles play vs. MWC opponents during the season.

A junior from Belgrade, Serbia, Cetnik posted a pair of doubles victories and a win at No. 4 singles as TCU captured the Mountain West Conference Tournament championship last week in San Diego, Calif. Two of her victories came in the finals vs. No. 2 seed BYU. She defeated the Cougars' Sofia Holden in singles (6-2, 6-0) and teamed with Helena Besovic at No. 1 doubles to edge BYU's Anastasia Sourkova and Jennifer Miccoli (8-6). Cetnik and Besovic also earned a doubles victory over Wyoming's Andrea House and Karolina Rowinski (8-3) in the quarterfinals. Cetnik finished the year with a perfect 7-0 mark vs. MWC opponents.
