LARAMIE, Wyo. -

Standout University of Wyoming sophomore women's tennis player Jenny Bowman was named to the 2002 All-Mountain West Conference team Wednesday night at the MWC Women's Tennis Championship banquet in Provo, Utah.

The Sacramento, Cali. product earned all-conference honors for the second consecutive year after a sterling sophomore season in which she posted an overall record of 19-7 that included a 13-6 dual match record and 4-3 mark in conference matches, all in no. 1 singles play. Bowman also teamed with Jen Hancock to post a 15-9 record in no. 1 doubles with a 2-5 mark in MWC matches..

Bowman anchored an improved Cowgirl squad this season, posting the team's only winning record in singles play and leading UW to six dual match victories as a team. A biology major, Bowman was one of six repeat All-MWC selections. San Diego State junior Silvia Tornier was named Mountain West Conference Player of the Year while UNLV's Gyorgi Zsiros earned Freshman of the Year honors.

The 2002 MWC Coach of the Year award will be announced at the conclusion of the 2002 MWC Women's Tennis Championships on Saturday, April 27. The Cowgirls open their tournament draw Thursday at 2 p.m. versus San Diego State in Provo, Utah.
