Mountain West Conference Announces 2008-09 Women's Tennis All-Conference Awards

New Mexico's Ola Abou-Zekry named MWC Player of the Year

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -

The Mountain West Conference announced its 2008-09 All-Conference team and individual awards for women's tennis today. The MWC awards are selected by the league's nine head coaches.

New Mexico senior Ola Abou-Zekry collected her first MWC Player of the Year honor after posting a 24-10 record this season, including a 7-1 mark in MWC matches at the No. 1 position. The Cairo, Egypt, native, registered four victories over ranked opponents during the 2008-09 campaign.

BYU's McCall Jones earned MWC Freshman of the Year honors after netting a 20-11 overall record this season, including a 4-3 mark in MWC action at the No. 1 position.
