COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU (18-6, 7-1 MWC) and TCU (7-1 MWC) enter the 2007 Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Championship as the No. 1 and 2 seeds, respectively, after tying for the regular-season title. The MWC Championship will be held, April 25-28, at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Opening-round action begins Wednesday, April 25, with quarterfinals on Thursday, April 26, semifinals on Friday, April 27 and the championship on Saturday, April 28.

The 28th-ranked Cougars earned the No. 1 seed by virtue of their win over the 36th-ranked Lady Frogs in regular-season competition. A tie break was also necessary to determine the No. 3 and 4 seeds, with UNLV (17-6, 6-2 MWC) claiming the No. 3 spot over San Diego State (14-10, 6-2 MWC) based on the 55th-ranked Lady Rebels' regular-season win over the 49th-ranked Aztecs. New Mexico (11-10, 4-4 MWC), ranked 73rd nationally, captured the No. 5 seed, while Utah (13-10, 3-5 MWC) will be the No. 6 seed. Rounding out the bracket is No. 7 seed Wyoming (6-14, 2-6 MWC), No. 8 seed Colorado State (8-11, 1-7 MWC) and No. 9 seed Air Force (10-15, 0-8 MWC).

Action at the 2007 MWC Championship gets underway Wednesday, April 25 at 10 a.m. Mountain Time with an opening-round match between No. 8 Colorado State and No. 9 Air Force. Quarterfinal action begins at 10 a.m. MT Thursday, April 26, featuring No. 2 TCU vs. No. 7 Wyoming and No. 3 UNLV vs. No. 6 Utah. Thursday's second set of quarterfinals is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. MT, with top seed BYU taking on the winner of the Colorado State-Air Force match and No. 4 San Diego State squaring off against No. 5 New Mexico. Semifinal contests will be played at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. MT on Friday, April 27, with the championship match set for 10 a.m. MT on Saturday, April 28.
