COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico freshman Iva Gersic was named Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

Gersic, from Koprivnka, Croatia, posted a pair of singles and doubles wins over Wyoming and Colorado State last weekend. She opened with a 6-2, 6-1, over Wyoming's Patricia Chien at No. 1 singles, and went on to notch a 6-2, 6-0 win over Colorado States's Carla Pallares at No. 2 singles. Gersic also partnered with Maria Ruiz-Fabrega to help the Lobos to a 2-0 mark in doubles play.
